Impact of Spring Enrollment

One of the most important things for these three transfer wide receivers is enrolling for spring. I’ve mentioned it before, but Kansas transfer Andrew Parchment didn’t enroll in the spring.

I think that was a major factor in his limited production(though he led all FSU wide receivers in receptions with 24). These wide receivers enrolling in spring accomplish these things:

  • Coaches see their strengths and weaknesses first-hand
  • They get valuable reps in the offense
  • Build rapport with teammates and take on the culture of the team or add to it

It’s no different than a freshman receiver enrolling early, hoping to become a contributor in the season(which is rare for wide receivers, even the highest-rated players.) The difference with these three guys is they already have at least two years of college experience under their belt.

They are physically ready to play and have some semblance about what mat drills compose of and how a college offense works to varying degrees. These factors should provide a leg up to become contributors in the fall.

Coaches will know how they take to coaching, what positions they can be most successful in, and what positions to avoid to help the team as much as possible.
