FSU football: Grading our top 10 bold predictions for 2021 season
By Kelvin Hunt
Jashaun Corbin will surpass 1,200 all-purpose yards
"This prediction was tough to make because of how last season went for the Noles. They only played nine games and Corbin wasn’t 100 percent healthy from the injury that ended his time at Texas A&M. That doesn’t seem to be the case as we head into 2021. Corbin looks like himself before the injury and he has time under his belt in Mike Norvell’s system. I’m projecting Corbin to get around 185 carries on the season, which would equate to around 850 rushing yards if averages 4.6 yards per carry. Corbin averaged 4.95 yards per rush in 2020. If Corbin gets around 850 rushing yards, he’d only need 350 receiving yards to surpass the 1,200 yards all-purpose mark. Of course, Corbin could average well over 4.6 yards per carry, which means he’d need fewer receiving yards to reach the goal. The offense should have a better passing attack, and the offensive line looks to be better in 2021. All of those are positive signs he could pull this off."
It’s always hard to project running back production because there are so many factors. There’s no doubt in my mind Jashaun Corbin would have surpassed the 1,200-yard mark if he and Jordan Travis could have stayed healthy. The offense was different when Jordan Travis was in the line up and the time he missed hurt Corbin’s production. He finished the season with 1,031 total yards and played the second half of the season banged up. I recall mentioning he looked less explosive later in the season, and I think he suffered an ankle injury in the NC State game. Corbin declared for the NFL Draft and represented the Noles the way players are supposed to during his time in Tallahassee.
