Final Thoughts

A few of the players I thought may hit the portal have already indicated they plan to return in 2022. The FSU coaching staff signing players from the portal will likely have an impact on current players hitting the portal or not.

We’ll see if they still feel that way in a couple of months. There’s usually an influx of players that enter the portal once spring practices conclude near the end of March and early April.

FSU could still be active in the portal at that point as they didn’t sign Dillan Gibbons until around that time last year. I wouldn’t be surprised to see some attrition at defensive back, tight end, and wide receiver.

There’s probably a couple of more players that will never see the field that may wait until next year to hit the transfer portal. After all, a lot of the former FSU players that have entered the portal have not found a new home yet even at the FCS level.

It is a risk to enter the transfer portal and lose their scholarship without knowing they will get another opportunity for sure. Nevertheless, players have to earn their scholarships every year, and it’s the nature of the beast.
