FSU basketball (6-4, 0-1 ACC) has been out of action since a blowout win over Lipscomb nearly two weeks ago.

A non-conference game against Central Florida saw the first alteration to the schedule due to COVID-19 issues on December 19.

The following game against North Florida on December 21 was postponed, and now the latest game against Boston College has suffered the same fate.

The announcement came from the ACC Men’s Basketball account Monday morning:

Thoughts

It’s a tough break for an FSU basketball team that had struggled for much of the early part of their season. The games against Central Florida and North Florida would have been valuable playing time to prepare the Noles for conference play.

I wrote in the preseason how FSU lost almost all of their production and experience from last year’s team and how I expected the team to struggle with so many new faces. The Noles struggled on the offensive end as the players continue to search for their respective roles.

They’ve dealt with multiple injuries and a death in the family of RayQuan Evans that have kept key players off of the court. I’m not sure how much practice time the team has had during this stretch, but time together seems to be the only thing that will remedy their issues.

The good news is the ACC Conference doesn’t seem to be the murderer’s row of years past, with several programs hovering around the .500 mark and with losses to some sub-par programs.

The Noles will need to finish near the top of the conference for any hopes of making the NCAA Tournament, and every game postponed lowers that chance if they are not able to make up those missed games.

Their next scheduled game is an away game against NC State on New Year’s Day at p.m. ET.
