2022 NFL Pro Bowl: Four former Noles make the team
By Kelvin Hunt
The roster for the 2022 NFL Pro Bowl is out, and we have four former FSU football players to make the team.
LA Chargers safety Derwin James was the lone representative for the AFC Division.
Minnesota’s Dalvin Cook, Carolina’s Brian Burns, and LA Ram’s Jalen Ramsey were the representatives for the NFC Division.
All of the NFL Pro Bowl selections are below:
Derwin James returned to form after missing last season with an injury. He has 103 total tackles, two sacks, three forced fumbles, two interceptions, and five passes defended. All of these stats are on par with his breakout rookie season in 2018.
Dalvin Cook makes his third consecutive NFL Pro Bowl after rushing for 1,000 yards for the third consecutive year. Brian Burns makes his first NFL Pro Bowl after getting snubbed last year. He has nine sacks(same as last year), two forced fumbles, and four passes defended. Jalen Ramsey makes his sixth consecutive NFL Pro Bowl.
He has 64 total tackles, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, three interceptions, and 13 passes defended. All of these former players signed with FSU football when Jimbo Fisher was the head coach. They were all top 50 players nationally in their respective recruiting classes, and they were all drafted in the first round except Dalvin Cook, who should have been the first running back drafted in the 2017 NFL Draft.
It’s great to see former Noles continuing to represent the Noles in the league and other former players who’ve had strong seasons that didn’t make the team. Asante Samuel Jr. has had a strong rookie season with 31 tackles, two interceptions, and seven passes defended. Philadelphia’s Josh Sweat has 36 total tackles and five sacks.
Kansas City’s Derrick Nnadi has 32 total tackles and two sacks from the defensive tackle position. Saints’ P.J. Williams has 34 total tackles, one sack, three interceptions, five passes defended, and a touchdown.
The 2022 NFL Pro Bowl will take place on Sunday, February 6.
