FSU football: 3 huge takeaways from Early Signing Day

FSU Needs Changes On Staff
FSU had already made one change on the staff with the promotion of Randy Shannon to replace Chris Marve at the linebacker coaching position.
Mike Norvell has to replace FSU wide receivers coach Ron Dugans. Dugans hasn’t shown the ability to land quality wide receivers, and the receivers on the roster have not shown any noticeable development. It’s telling Kenny Dillingham has to be involved in the recruitment of Kevin Coleman and Mycah Pittman, and Dugans couldn’t secure Mortimer.
FSU needs better recruiters on the staff, and this is one area they can address that need with Dugan’s contract expiring next month. I think they can move running back’s coach David Johnson to wide receivers and hopefully, hire an ace recruiter to stash in the running back coaching spot. They also need to address the spot vacated by Kenny Dillingham.
Alex Atkins will feel the role of offensive coordinator, but that still leaves a coaching spot. Mike Norvell has to get a guy with strong recruiting ties there if they want to make noise on the trail in 2023 and beyond.
Odell Haggins addressed the defensive tackle unit but missing on Tyre West hurt. Haggins has not signed a blue-chip defensive tackle since the 2018 class.
