Key takeaways from Michael Alford introductory press conference

Relationships With Former Athletes
One of the things that stuck out was Alford’s message to former FSU athletes. He said, “To all former student-athletes at FSU, we want you back.
This is your home, this is your legacy that you helped build and let’s continue to pay forward for generations to come by staying involved and staying connected. Once a Nole always a Nole.”
I thought that was an important part, and hopefully, Alford will work with coaches to make a concerted effort to have more former players involved with their respective programs. I know Mike Norvell has invited former players back and several of them took advantage of the invitation for the Miami game.
However, that’s something I’d like to see more of in the future. Some former players seem to have allegiance to whoever the coach was at the time and not the university. I understand some of that may be because some coaches didn’t make them feel welcome, but the fact the athletic director is echoing this invitation back across every sport should be heard loud and clear.
Hopefully, we’ll see former athletes more involved with Seminole Boosters, not necessarily giving but spreading the message of why it’s important. That was something Alford was implementing during his time as Seminole Boosters CEO. However, if they wish to give, that’d be great too.
