Recruiting
The loudest thing from Miami fans and their media is Cristobal’s recruiting prowess.
Mario Cristobal is headed to Miami. And that’s bad news for Alabama, Georgia and others. A look at what this hire means for recruiting in one of the nation’s top football hotbeds: https://t.co/GKTc4nh3dI pic.twitter.com/wQtGI03t4k

I read that tweet and about died laughing. Cristobal had success recruiting coaching at Alabama, but who hasn’t? He had decent recruiting success while at Oregon but didn’t have to worry about a fully committed USC or anyone else on the west coast.
Cristobal signed 70 high school players between 2019-21, and 40 of them were considered blue-chip players. That’s a solid 57 percent blue-chip ratio, but that’s not that impressive considering Oregon’s resources and no heavy competition from other west coast schools.
The question is, how will Cristobal fair in a South Florida landscape that’s changed drastically since he was an offensive line coach at Miami in the mid-2000s? Programs like Alabama, Ohio State, LSU, FSU, Clemson, Texas A&M, and others compete for those local players.
I’ve said before, Miami will sign a few, and they always will, but they won’t sign enough to be what they once were.
