FSU football recruiting needs 2-3 quality players at the linebacker position in the 2022 recruiting class. The unit has been a weakness the past few seasons on and off the field, with opposing offenses taking advantage over the middle in the passing game as those players struggled in coverage.

It’s one reason why four-star linebacker target Wesley Bissainthe was a key target in this recruiting cycle.

However, Bissainthe announced Saturday afternoon he intends to stay home and attend the University of Miami. It wasn’t a huge surprise as his recruitment had been an FSU/Miami battle the majority of the recruiting cycle.

Bissainthe choosing Miami means the Noles will need to shift their focus to other targets to fill the needs at that position. A lot of criticism has gone towards FSU linebackers coach Chris Marve, and rightfully so.

FSU has only offered 25 players at the position for the 2022 class, with fewer than 10 of those as somewhat realistic targets. Marve wasn’t able to garner much traction with those players as five of them have already committed elsewhere.

Depending on how Marve finishes this recruiting class, it’s likely a question and conversation Mike Norvell will have to have.

Marve has helped develop Kalen DeLoach and DJ Lundy on the field, but his recruiting prowess is anything but that. Here are some targets left to salvage the position.
