Pass Defense

FSU football used to be called “DBU,” but they had not been worthy of that title the past few years. Here’s the pass defense stat line from 2020:

  • Percentage Complete-66.3
  • Yards per Attempt-8.1
  • Passing yards-2,314
  • TD-16
  • INT-8
  • QB rating-147.44
  • Passing attempts per game-31.7
  • Yards allowed per game-257.1

2021

  • Percentage Complete-58.2
  • Yards per Attempt-7
  • Passing yards-2,798
  • TD-25
  • INT-14
  • QB rating-131.12
  • Passing attempts per game-33.1
  • Yards allowed per game-233.2

The number of touchdowns allowed needs to improve, but several of those were 50/50 passes where FSU defenders were in a position to make a play and were not able to. Also, there were not many defenses that had to face the quality of quarterback play like the FSU defense.
