FSU football fans have been looking into news following the rival Florida Gators for the past couple of weeks with the recent rivalry game.

The firing of Dan Mullen, who most FSU fans wish they had kept, means Florida was in the market to hire an upgrade. The announcement of Billy Napier as the head coach came Sunday afternoon and had hoo-hum vibes.

FSU fans were not running in fear, and I haven’t seen many Florida fans boasting Napier is the second coming of Urban Meyer.

It’ll depend on who Napier hires on the staff at Florida to properly determine how good the hire could be in the long run.

However, I wanted to provide a quick snapshot regarding Napier and what he brings to the table. He is familiar with FSU football since he was the offensive coordinator at Clemson in 2009-10 with Dabo Swinney.

The 2009 FSU defense was historically bad, and FSU’s Mark Stoops held the Clemson offense to 13 points in 2010 before Swinney ultimately fired Napier. Jimbo Fisher hired Napier as the FSU tight ends coach in 2013 for like a month before Napier left for a job at Alabama.

He has been the offensive coordinator at Arizona State before taking his first head coaching job at Louisiana-Lafayette. Here’s a brief snapshot.
