The desirable players in the transfer portal usually want to go where they can play for championships or find the most exposure in hopes of getting drafted by an NFL team.

I suppose that’s why the success FSU has had over the past two recruiting cycles through the portal has been somewhat surprisingl, not to mention they couldn’t evaluate the guys in person last year.

The perception of FSU football wasn’t great over the past couple of years, but the way they’ve come on strong in the second half of the season could help change that.

Also, the coaching staff can point to the success of players like Jermaine Johnson, Keir Thomas, Jashaun Corbin, Fabien Lovett, Dillan Gibbons, and Jammie Robinson as reasons why FSU is the place to go even though they may not be competing for any championships.

The FSU brand still holds weight, and players will have an opportunity for maximum exposure as FSU always plays in big games. Multiple NFL scouts have been at FSU practices and games this year, although they have been below .500 as a team.

That facet, along with the perception the program is on the way up? That could mean the Noles can attract a higher-quality player. The coaching staff has shown they are good evaluators of talent, so trends of getting quality players from the transfer portal should continue or improve in the 2022 recruiting cycle.
