Jermaine Johnson

I can’t say enough good things about Jermaine Johnson’s performance Saturday afternoon. The tackle he was going up against had no chance as Johnson was consistently in Phil Jurkovec’s face in the first half of the game.

Johnson didn’t fill up the stack sheet like some others, but his presence alone caused many issues for Boston College’s offense. Johnson finished the game with three tackles and two tackles for a loss. He also had two QB hurries, though it feels like he was in the backfield way more than that.

One tremendous play got taken away. It was Johnson forcing a fumble on Phil Jurkovec, with Robert Cooper recovering the fumble. However, the referees reviewed the play and said the arm was moving forward.

I can’t put into words how valuable Jermaine Johnson has been to this defense. I know if he was on a team with a better record, it’s not far-fetched to think he could get some Heisman votes.
