Alex Mastromanno

It’s funny how I hear some people comment on Mastromanno like he isn’t a good player. He’s easily the best punter FSU football has had since Cason Beatty and is also equal to, if not better than, Beatty’s best year while only a sophomore.

Mastromanno’s skills provided key opportunities that led to points for the Noles. His first punt pinned Boston College at the one-yard line.

That ultimately led to the FSU offense getting the ball at mid-field after a BC punt.

That drive led to a touchdown. His next punt pinned Boston College at the 10-yard line, and the FSU defense turned that field position into a safety.

That also meant the FSU offense began their next possession with great field position, which led to an FSU field goal.

Mastromanno finished the game with five punts, averaging 39.6 yards per punt and four landing inside the 20-yard line. The Eagles didn’t return a punt in the game. Mastromanno has become a weapon for Mike Norvell and the special teams, who have done a great job of getting down the field to pin teams deep in their own territory.
