Pass Rush

This aspect will determine how successful the FSU defense is Saturday afternoon. Boston College can do some damage through the air with Jurkovec at QB, but I think they can be boom or bust quite a bit too.

Boston College hasn’t allowed a sack in the last two games against Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech. Heck, Jurkovec hasn’t been sacked once in any of the four games he has played this year. However, none of the four teams he has faced have the defensive line that FSU football has at their disposal.

They have an experienced offensive line, but it’s difficult to judge how good because they played the better teams on their schedule without Jurkovec. Clemson (4), NC State (3), and Syracuse (5) all had success sacking their backup quarterback with several more tackles for a loss.

The FSU defensive front will be the best they’ve faced in quite some time, but Jurkovec hasn’t thrown more than 24 passes in a game this year.

Will they air it out more if they can’t get the run game going? It’s possible, but I like FSU’s matchup.

I think Boston College has less talent at receiver than Miami, Clemson, NC State, and North Carolina. The FSU defense has held most of those guys in check, so I don’t see Boston College differently.
