Their Future

Miami decided to fire their athletic director Monday afternoon, which means Manny Diaz’s future in Miami could be in doubt. Whoever, they hire in the athletic director position will likely want to hire their coach.

Miami fans will likely experience what FSU faced during the transition between Willie Taggart and Mike Norvell. The only problem is Manny Diaz has a shell of a 2022 class with only eight commitments.

There is only one offensive lineman and NO defensive linemen committed. Four of their top six commits are not from Florida, and what’s the likelihood they’ll sign with Miami? I would wager if they sign with the Canes, that means other programs don’t think that highly of them, so that’s that. Make sure you check out the latest episode of my Built For Playmakers Podcast below:

Whoever the new coach would be would have a mess on their hands from a recruiting standpoint. USC and LSU are in the market to hire a coach, and Miami isn’t anywhere close to the same tier as those jobs. Who are they going to hire if they fire Manny Diaz? Do they have the money to hire a respected coach?

What coach will want to go coach at a place where they have to rent a facility 45 minutes away to play their games? What coach will want to go somewhere that has a 60-yard indoor practice facility?

What coach wants to go somewhere that hasn’t been committed to football the past 20 years? I don’t know, but good luck with that. The window to take advantage of FSU getting in its own way is likely over.
