Florida

I almost believe Dan Mullen has tried to get fired the past couple of weeks in Gainesville. He has lost that program and had to fire his offensive line coach and defensive coordinator to take some of the heat off of his back last week.

The Florida defense proceeded to allow Samford to score over 40 points in the first HALF on Saturday. When it comes to recruiting, Dan Mullen isn’t great.

Their 2022 recruiting class ranks No. 22, and it’ll probably get worse if some of those players decide to drop those de-commit notes. They lost two top 100 players last month in Shemar James and Julian Humphrey and only have 13 commits.

Mullen already struggles on the recruiting trails, but what players will want to go there knowing he likely won’t be there after next year or is looking to take a job in the NFL? Recruiting is the lifeblood of a program and one of the key reasons Florida hasn’t taken that next step under Mullen.

They had a Heisman contender on their team last year and still had four losses and have yet to have a top 10 recruiting class under his leadership. If he couldn’t do it when FSU has been as bad as they’ve been? There’s no reason to think it’ll get better as FSU begins surge back to respectability.
