Recruiting Surge

FSU football knew this would be the last opportunity to make a lasting impression with several key recruits. The win over Miami can solidify several things: Culture change, positions of need, electric atmosphere, and more.

There was a lot of positive momentum from the overtime loss against Notre Dame in the season opener. However, this win shows progress and the need for more talent at positions like a linebacker and the secondary. The Noles had some recruits visiting for the game that can be difference-makers for the Noles in the future.

It provides proof of concept to a recruit like Marvin Jones Jr., with what Jermaine Johnson has accomplished in one season in the garnet and gold. It shows the offensive line recruits progress, but they are needed to continue the climb.

It gives the coaching staff something to build on in the final month as the Early Signing Period nears. A win like that could persuade at least three or four of the blue-chip targets remaining to join the good guys. It’ll be interesting to see how recruiting goes over the next few weeks.

I don’t have any proof, but it wouldn’t surprise me if the staff got a silent commit from at least one of the players visiting for the game.
