Jordan Travis Upside

I understand Jordan Travis gives FSU football the best chance to win football games in 2021. Heck, he’s why they won three games in 2020 instead of zero.

However, he has limitations as a quarterback, and there’s no guarantee he’ll improve as much as he needs to as a passer. Yes, he’s inexperienced and has only played in a handful of games and could improve.

However, one reason he hasn’t progressed as much is he’s injury-prone. He missed most of 2020 fall camp with injuries and was hurt several times during that season. The 2021 season saw him limited due to injuries early in the season.

Can a coach in Mike Norvell’s position afford to put it all on the line with a quarterback that’s limited as a passer, injury-prone, and has no experience behind him?

We’ve seen Jordan Travis gut through performances while hurt, but he’s not the same player if he can’t use his legs as a weapon. It’s true Travis helps hide deficiencies in the offensive line with his ability to run, but the FSU offense has to develop a legitimate passing attack at some point. Can that do that with Jordan Travis at quarterback?

I’m not sure, but the offensive line should be better in 2022 and hopefully, the wide receiver group can take the next step as well. If FSU can find a graduate transfer that’s a proven passer in the transfer portal? I think it would be in their best interest to attempt to bring him on board.
