FSU football: 3 things I want to see against Clemson
By Kelvin Hunt
Fast Start
This aspect goes hand-in-hand with physicality to a degree. However, the Noles must get off to a good start.
If the FSU offense receives the ball first, it would be ideal if they could score a touchdown, but at the very least, obtaining at least one first down on the drive would be optimal if they have to punt eventually. If they defer the ball to the second half, FSU’s defense forcing a punt on their first possession would be huge.
I’d argue it would be more important than what the offense does since that’s where the frustration lies with Clemson’s team. If the Clemson offense continues to struggle, I believe that will eventually bleed over into the Clemson defense.
They are not going to continue to play hard for an offense they know can’t score points. It’s the same thing the FSU defense struggled with early in the season when FSU’s offense wasn’t playing well.
A fast start on both sides of the ball would continue to boost the confidence of FSU players, while doubt continues to creep into the minds of Clemson and their fans.
The latter will be loud, but early success for the Noles will help negate that. If the Noles can get off to a fast start, impose their will and play disciplined football?
I believe good things will happen for the Noles Saturday afternoon.
