FSU football: Three thoughts on FSU 2022 recruiting
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football recruiting checks in with the No. 11 ranking in the 2022 cycle with 18 commitments. The coaching staff did a great job identifying targets early and getting them on campus multiple times once the dead period ended on June 1.
Their efforts resulted in several players committing at positions of need which provided a wave of momentum going into the season.
I wrote about why it was worth the gamble to have so many big-time recruits officially visiting for the Notre Dame game, and it paid off.
The recruits/commits in attendance were excited to see the FSU product, and that visit helped the coaching staff with several blue-chip players.
However, the inexcusable loss against Jacksonville State the next week and subsequent losses against Wake Forest and Louisville undid all of that goodwill, and we’ve since seen a couple of targets commit elsewhere.
There are about three commits that haven’t officially de-committed yet, that I wouldn’t be shocked if they made that announcement at some point. All three are quality players at positions of need that could make an impact at FSU.
However, the FSU football winning their games in the last two weeks has stabilized things for now, and the coaching staff used this week to visit players and extend some new offers because some players could be looking elsewhere. Here are three thoughts on the 2022 recruiting class.
