Run Defense

FSU football has had success running the ball on every team they have played except for Wake Forest. Six turnovers will limit your offensive opportunities quickly. People talked about Syracuse’s run defense, but they hadn’t played anyone of note, and I felt comfortable the Noles would be able to run the ball.

The same goes for North Carolina. Ironically, Georgia Tech has a mobile QB like Jordan Travis, and the Yellow Jackets ran for 261 yards. They only passed the ball 13 times for 131 yards. That should sound familiar because it’s similar to what FSU did against Syracuse last week.

FSU ran for 241 yards last year, with Jordan Travis accounting for 107 yards on 16 carries. FSU has gone over the 200-yard mark rushing in 4 of 5 games.

It’s relatively the same defense up front, and North Carolina will likely try to play man-to-man with FSU wide receivers. That means their backs will be to Jordan Travis if he decides to take off running.

That’s an advantage for FSU. I expect Jashaun Corbin to continue to have success, and Treshaun Ward will likely contribute, but less because Jordan Travis will play a part in the run game.
