I have to apologize to Ryan Fitzgerald since I criticized him for the missed extra point on Twitter. It was a bad hold which caused him to push the kick to the right.

Field goal kickers have not been good at FSU since 2016 or so, but it was good to see Fitzgerald come up big with two makes in the Syracuse game. The two field goals were from 34 and 35 yards, but even those have not been automatic the past few years.

I’ll be honest, I wasn’t comfortable when it was time for him to attempt the game-winner. We’ve seen too many misses and bad snaps, but I was happy for him and the program when that ball sailed through the uprights.

There was a lot of pressure riding on his shoulders, and hopefully, he’ll be able to use that experience as a confidence booster in the future.
