FSU football: 7 players deserve Tomahawk Stickers for Syracuse game
By Kelvin Hunt
Robert Cooper, Keir Thomas, Fabien Lovett, Jermaine Johnson
I put all of these guys together because everything they did in the game doesn’t show up in the stats.
The defensive line might have been the most impressive unit on the field Saturday afternoon. They consistently played well against the run with Syracuse getting most of their production on a couple of plays.
These three players accounted for 20 tackles, a sack, and two tackles for loss.
They helped hold the Syracuse running back to 102 rushing yards, with a good chunk of that production coming with substitutes in the game.
Keir Thomas looked the part on the edge, and Robert Cooper and Fabien Lovett gave the defensive line what we wanted to see.
That’s disrupting things up the middle and penetrating to allow the linebackers to clean things up, especially on the goal line stand, which was a huge play in the game. Jermaine Johnson missed a huge tackle on the Syracuse QB on his first touchdown run, but was solid other than that.
Hopefully, they continue to bring this level of play every week, and the FSU secondary can finally begin to get their act together at some point.
