FSU football: 5 key moments in ‘Noles win over Syracuse
By Kelvin Hunt
Moment #5
The FSU offense gave the ball right back to Syracuse on a crazy interception by a Syracuse defensive back.
Camren McDonald missed a block on a play the Noles had had success with earlier in the game.
The missed block allowed him to jump the route and make a play. That meant Syracuse got the ball on the FSU 41-yard line with 8:16 remaining in the game.
A touchdown by Syracuse probably means another loss for FSU football. However, the FSU defense bowed up and forced Syracuse to make a 24-yard field goal to tie the game at 30-30. More importantly, the defensive stop left just over five minutes left in the game.
FSU punted on their next possession to give Syracuse the ball AGAIN with 2:59 remaining. FSU’s defense forced another punt with 1:03 remaining in the game. How many times have we seen the FSU defense allow plays when it mattered the most?
They came up big on Syracuse’s last two possessions for the Noles to have a shot for the game-winning drive.
Final Thoughts
That’s a lot of adversity to overcome in one game. Granted, most of the adversity was self-inflicted, but it was good to see the players continue to respond when things were not going their way. Here’s to hoping they can build on the win for the rest of the season.
