Final Thoughts

The turnovers and quarterback play go hand-in-hand, with the majority of them coming via interceptions.

Not to mention fumbles are more random and have even more of a luck component in recovering them. FSU lost seven of these 37 games by a touchdown or less when they turn the ball over once or more.

I know the offensive line needs better players, and I know the wide receivers need better players. Better quarterback play can elevate the play of both units and is one of the main reasons FSU is in its current state. It all began with recruiting misses at the position by Jimbo Fisher, followed by the same issues with Willie Taggart.

The signing of Chubba Purdy was a good starting point for Mike Norvell, and the jury is still out on what he’ll become. His injuries, coupled with the pandemic, have slowed his development, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him at some point this year.

This coaching staff has to find a way to limit turnovers, whether it’s playing a bit more conservative, or playing to the strength of their players.

It’s hard enough to win games without turnovers, but doing so with a team that’s not talented enough to overcome them is a losing proposition.
