Coaching Decisions

The decisions the coaches have made in the games may be the most concerning. They have regressed in this department since last year. I thought their ability to adapt on the fly with no offseason while dealing with COVID issues meant an upgrade in 2021.

However, that couldn’t be farther from the truth. They can’t decide who they want to do what. Why the shuffling and or rotating of players at certain positions? Why are your best players not on the field the majority of the time? What in the world is up with the playcalling on offense?

They brought Jordan Travis into the game and essentially ran the wildcat three times without the wildcat formation. Why did they run McKenzie Milton on 4th and two? Why did Treshuan Ward only get six carries on Saturday while he averaged eight yards per carry?

Why can’t they decide who they want at quarterback instead of the stupid two-quarterback system? Why did they throw the ball deep to Keyshawn Helton, of all people, against Jacksonville State? Can FSU wide receivers run slant routes, or is that prohibited?

Why is Jarrian Jones on the field at all? Why are the younger defensive backs not getting an opportunity when it’s clear the starters are not getting the job done? Why is Travis Jay out there on special teams?

These coaches seem like they are way over their heads, but that didn’t seem to be the case last year. I don’t understand it when they have had a year to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the players on the roster.
