Undisciplined Players

I remember talking about players and their inability to play without committing dumb penalties under Willie Taggart, and the same things are continuing in the Mike Norvell era. The crazy thing is the majority of those players committing dumb penalties under Taggart are no longer on the roster.

I can excuse penalties committed by young players, like the one by Darion Williamson running into the punter on third down on Saturday. I didn’t think that deserved a personal foul, and he was trying to make a play. However, the penalties we saw in the Notre Dame and Jacksonville State games were ridiculous.

How many offensive drives stalled because of penalties against Jacksonville State? How many Wake Forest drives continued because of penalties by FSU? I know the coaches can only do so much when it comes to players committing penalties, but one thing they can do is sit them on the bench if it’s a continuous thing.

I know Mike Norvell said they evaluate everything and have accountability measures in place. Is that still the case? Something isn’t clicking with these players because they continue to make the same mistakes.

The other thing I noticed against Wake Forest that I didn’t see in the first two games is the difference in taunting. Jarvis Brownlee got burned with ease several times in the first half, and when he finally broke up a pass, he had to flex as he had done something.

I saw a couple of FSU receivers make the first down motion after catching a pass, and they were losing by two touchdowns. What happened to play as a unit instead of the look at me syndrome?
