FSU football head coach Mike Norvell did a great job of winning the offseason, but that has come to an abrupt halt since the Noles began the season three weeks ago.

The Noles have looked inept on offense aside from a second-half surge against Notre Dame. In retrospect, that surge may have had more to do with Notre Dame backing off with an 18-point lead and FSU capturing some momentum on an emotional night honoring Bobby Bowden.

That’s the only explanation I have because they have looked like the 2018 version of a Walt Bell offense through three games. I think Adam Fuller has improved the defense over last year, but they haven’t gotten any help from the offense.

However, they still give up way too many plays and make self-inflicted wounds to give teams more opportunities. I have no faith in this staff moving forward because they had weeks to prepare for this game and knew the importance of winning against Wake Forest.

How they could look some terrible is beyond me, and the FSU football fan base has lost all faith in Mike Norvell too.

Thoughts

FSU is more talented than Wake Forest and Jacksonville State, but the players won’t ready for either game, and that falls on the coaches.

What is the deal with the rotation of quarterbacks and running backs? I thought the idea was to put your 11 best players out there on both sides of the ball? I understand players need breaks, but the timing in which those changes take place makes no sense.

Treshaun Ward was gouging Wake Forest on the ground, and Lawrance Toafili replaced him on the field? What sense does it make? When players continuously play poorly, why are players allowed to play continue to get playing time?

I’d rather a young player go out there and try to make a play as opposed to watching an older player play poorly and then make gestures after a play is over like he did something good. I know FSU likely can’t afford to buy another contract out, but changes must be made somewhere.
