They Don’t Beat Themselves

Dave Clawson’s teams generally don’t beat themselves, and the sentiment has been true through their first two games, albeit against FCS/FBS I-AA competition. Wake Forest committed SIX penalties in two games, and FSU committed nine penalties in the second half against Jacksonville State.

When it comes to beating yourself, nothing contributes more to that than committing turnovers.

The Noles turned the ball over four times with four interceptions but caught a break on a potential fifth when McKenzie Milton fumbled a hand-off to the running back, but the ball someone found an FSU player after getting kicked around on the ground.

Guess how many turnovers Wake Forest has through two games? They have two turnovers, but one of them was an interception for a backup quarterback with less than five minutes to go in a game.

The other was a fumble lost by the starting running back against Old Dominion. One team is 2-0, and the other is 0-2, and I wonder if you can guess which team is which?

FSU will have to show way more discipline than we’ve seen in the first two games if they want to pull off the victory, on the road, no less.
