Play ONE quarterback

The FSU offense not having a true quarterback is the true issue with this team. I think the guy should be McKenzie Milton moving forward as long he isn’t limited by his leg.

The first possession Saturday night is a prime example of how the offense should look, and despite Helton’s drop, they moved the ball with ease. It was the putting two quarterbacks on the field at one time that screwed everything up.

Mike Norvell is trying to put a square peg into a round hole with Jordan Travis at quarterback. Travis continues to miss routine throws to open receivers, and the coaching staff is not playing to his strengths as a runner like they did last year. If they decide to play Jordan Travis, they have to go back to the option style they used last year.

The only problem is Mike Norvell needs to begin implementing his offense, and Travis isn’t capable of doing that. The issue with McKenzie Milton Saturday night is Mike Norvell got away from running the ball and got pass-happy.

There is no reason Milton should have thrown the ball 31 times against Jacksonville State when the Noles could have run the ball down their throat as they did on the first possession. Mike Norvell could have worked on the passing game after they had a comfortable lead.

The Noles should have had a two-score lead or more going into halftime and used the latter part of the game to experiment or practice their passing game. Mike Norvell has to decide what he wants his offensive identity to be for the next 10 games.

Does he want to implement his offense, or does he want to go back to the option version with Jordan Travis from 2020? Or, does he want to go with Chubba Purdy, who missed most of last year and spring and fall camp.

However, his skill set probably fits best with what Mike Norvell would like to do with his offense. The only problem is Purdy probably can’t run the offense efficiently because he has missed so much time.  Either way, they have to make a decison on ONE QB and go from there.
