Pros

Pre-snap reads and getting the ball out quicker is what McKenzie Milton excels at. Milton has an innate ability to anticipate what the defense will do and gets the ball to the right guy.

The third-down pass to Keshawn Helton is a prime example of a throw Jordan Travis could not have made. FSU’s run game opened up with Milton behind the center, but was that a product of Notre Dame relaxing somewhat, or the threat of Milton passing?

It’s hard to say, but Notre Dame got to Milton a couple of times in the relaxed look as well. However, I believe he provides the best option to consistently move the ball, especially if the coaching staff doesn’t use Jordan Travis on more designed runs.

I’m not in the locker room, so this is purely anecdotal, but the team seemed to have a spark with Milton as the quarterback.

When he completed that first pass to Ja’Khi Douglas, you could feel a collective boost of confidence from the crowd and the players.

Maybe it was a combination of that drive providing a real possibility of FSU pulling off the upset?

Either way, the offense looked different with Milton, but I can’t tell if it was all because of him or that Notre Dame had changed their approach.
