FSU football: 5 bold predictions for Notre Dame game
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU offense allows 6 or less tackles for loss
FSU’s offensive line has been ridiculed for the better part of five years, but things seem to be trending in the right direction of offensive line coach Alex Atkins.
The ‘Noles starting five will likely be the best unit they’ve put on the field in quite some time. Also, they have at least 2-3 reliable options to rotate in when needed.
Notre Dame had nine tackles for loss and four sacks in last season’s matchup, but two of those were in garbage time with James Blackman in at quarterback.
I think the offensive line will be good enough to prevent a ton of negative plays, and I think FSU quarterbacks will do a better job of getting the ball out quickly to their playmakers.
Jordan Travis is one of the best in the country and evading pressure in the backfield, and McKenzie Milton has an extremely quick release.
I wouldn’t expect the coaching staff to put the latter in many opportunities where he has to wait for plays to develop downfield.
We also have to account for Notre Dame having a new defensive coordinator and they’ll have some hiccups on their end, and will likely not be as comfortable in game one as they will be in game five.
