Linebacker Play in 2021

Aside from the wide receiver unit, the linebacker unit might have been the worst on the team in 2021.

Linebacker coach Chris Marve is already on the hot seat with FSU football fans because of his inability to recruit like the other coaches.

Will the linebacker unit look improved after he has had a full offseason to work with them? There is some physical talent with Amari Gainer, Stephan Dix Jr., Kalen DeLoach, and DJ Lundy.

The issue is finding the right combination, so this unit isn’t a liability on the defense. The issues were filling the wrong gaps, poor tackling, poor tackling angles, and inability to cover receivers in space.

I know, that sounds like they had issues in all aspects, and they did for the most part. Teams had a field day throwing across the middle on RPO’s.

However, if Emmett Rice can return from last year’s injury, I like him to get lots of snaps as he gets healthy.
