If you’re an FSU football fan with Comcast as your cable provider, it’s time to celebrate. The ACC Network has been added to your lineup just in time for the college football season.
It’s funny because I criticized the ACC Network on social media earlier Sunday as they were celebrating their two-year anniversary.
The comments section featured angry customers that haven’t had access to content on the ACC Network.
However, it looks like they wanted to make some sort of splash, although they haven’t made a formal announcement.
Check out how FSU football fans and pundits reacted to the news.
Reaction
Multiple Comcast customers seeing the ACC Network. That's every major cable carrier, making it the second best conference network launch in history.

Thoughts
It has been a long time coming as the ACC Network has struggled, but I have to give new ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips credit here because it’s long overdue, and he got it done in a short amount of time. According to ESPN’s David Hale, this will add roughly 22 million new subscribers, which equates to about 60 percent more as a whole for the network.
That would roughly mean about 100 million more dollars for the ACC Conference. That’s not going to compete with the SEC or B1G, but it does close the gap until those conferences negotiate new deals. Unfortunately, those negotiations will happen sooner than later, especially with the SEC adding Oklahoma and Texas recently.
Jim Phillips has reiterated to all of the schools in the ACC Conference that football will be number one since it accounts for most of the revenue. It’s a breath of fresh air to hear that since the former commissioner dropped the ball in the past with TV negotiations. It’s one of the prime reasons the ACC has fallen behind the SEC and B1G.
There is talk of the ACC allying with the B1G and PAC-12, and Phillips’ background of working in the B1G could prove valuable since they have the most leverage of the three conferences.
UPDATE:
The ACC Network appearing on Comcast last night was apparently an operational error on the part of the distributor (ESPN) in inadvertently putting it on an overflow channel. Comcast and Disney continue to negotiate new contract, which is expected to include ACCN.
