FSU football: 3 offensive players to pay attention to in 2021 fall camp
By Kelvin Hunt
McKenzie Milton
I don’t want this to sound like I’m dissing Jordan Travis. I believe he’ll have a role in the offense because he’s too dynamic to put on the bench.
However, I believe McKenzie Milton has a higher ceiling when it comes to helping the offense put up points in 2021.
He can attack through the air in all facets and usually makes quick decisions to get rid of the ball to avoid negative plays.
The reports in spring camp were that Milton struggled in the offense through the first 70 percent. However, we began to see a shift in the last couple of practices and the spring game.
I asked shortly after the spring game how much could Milton improve between then and the Notre Dame game?
We’re talking about months of immersing himself in the playbook and getting reps with the wide receivers. I want to see if he has progressed since spring camp right out of the gates. I
If he doesn’t struggle, and the reports out of fall camp are that he’s looking good? The Noles could have a better shot of winning those four coin flip games on the schedule.
Parting Thoughts
The FSU running game was one of the best in the conference last season, and that was without a legit passing game. If they can get things going through the air with these guys and others in the unit? That’ll open things up a great deal for the running backs, which means teams can’t force FSU’s hand by stacking the box all of the time.
If that’s the case? I think the offense will look a lot different in 2021.
