Malik McClain

I dislike putting this type of pressure and expectation on a freshman because it’s difficult to transition from high school to college as a wide receiver.

However, Malik McClain was an early enrollee and flashed a few times in spring camp. One of the most difficult tasks for freshmen is maintaining consistency every day.

It’s a problem McClain has already experienced in his short time at FSU. Young players will often make splash plays and then not execute a routine play or miss an assignment.

McClain is plenty talented, but can he excel when Mike Norvell counts on him to win a 1-on-1 matchup?

It’ll be a tough ask for a freshman going up against some of the better defenses in the nation. However, I think quarterback play will improve over last year, and the offensive line should be better.

If McClain can put it together for 25 or more receptions this season, it’ll open things up big time for the next guy on the list.
