FSU football: Top 5 storylines going into 2021 fall camp
By Kelvin Hunt
Wide Receivers
The wide receivers were atrocious last season as well. There’s no sugar coating it, and they have to improve drastically if the Noles expect to win 6-7 games.
The only proven players returning are Ontaria Wilson, Keyshawn Helton, and Camren McDonald at tight end. All three have shown to be serviceable at times, but FSU needs improvement and consistency.
Enter Kansas transfer Andrew Parchment, as many believe he assumes the No. 1 receiver title simply by putting on the pads.
The wide receivers had a ton of drops last year and struggled to get separation in their routes. They have two freshmen who were early enrollees in Malik McClain and Joshua Burrell.
I’m not putting big expectations on those two because the wide receiver position is a difficult transition in year one from high school to college. Maybe this unit will become better with improved quarterback play?
I think that’s possible, but I’ll be keeping an eye out for who’s emerging as camp takes place. Will Parchment show he’s the No. 1 guy?
