Kickers

FSU football used to be a place where kickers came to flourish. However, that hasn’t been the case since the latter part of Ricky Aguayo’s career.

The FSU kickers were downright atrocious last season, only making eight of 14 field goals in the entire season.

Parker Grothaus struggled after earning a scholarship as a former walk-on. Freshman Ryan Fitzgerald came to FSU football with great accolades, but they didn’t transfer onto the field last season.

Maybe it was due to last season being so weird and players not having the same number of reps they were accustomed to in the offseason?

I’m not sure, but FSU desperately needs stability in this position. It was so bad last season ,I had zero confidence they would make a routine field goal from 30-35 yards.

The only thing that shined in the kicking department last season was freshman punter Alex Mastromanno.

I hope the field goal kickers can find some of what he had last year, otherwise Mike Norvell will be going for it more often on 4th down more than likely.
