Wake Forest

This game is the first true road game of the year and just behind the Notre Dame game in terms of importance.

It’s the first coin-flip game on the schedule, and a win here likely puts the Noles at 3-2 at worst going into the North Carolina game.

If the Noles upset Notre Dame and then go up to Winston-Salem to get a win, they are likely going into North Carolina at 5-0 or 4-1 at worst.

However, if the Noles lose the opener against Notre Dame and drop the Wake Forest game? That likely means this team is nowhere near as good as we thought it could be, and the probability of winning the other coin flip games on the schedule just got lower.

Most people are not expecting to beat Notre Dame, but a loss against Wake Forest would be devastating.

It’s the early measuring stick for the season because this game will likely boost or decrease the player’s confidence going into another coin flip game against Louisville the following week.
