Pass Blocking 2019 vs. 2020

Here’s where we come back to reality with the offensive line. However, I believe Devontay Love-Taylor’s injury impacted these numbers once he was lost for the year.

"Sack Rate: Unadjusted sack rate for all non-garbage time pass attempts."

"Standard Downs Sack Rate: Unadjusted sack rate for standard downs pass attempts (Second-and-8 or more, third-and-5 or more, or fourth-and-5 or more.)"

"Passing Downs Sack Rate: Unadjusted sack rate for passing downs pass attempts."

2019

  • Sack Rate: No. 115
  • Standard Downs Sack Rate: No. 89
  • Passing Downs Sack Rate: No. 119

2020

  • Sack Rate: No. 112
  • Standard Downs Sack Rate: No. 117
  • Passing Downs Sack Rate: No. 79

The absence of Love-Taylor impacted these stats. James Blackman and Tate Rodemaker at quarterback the first two games of the season hurt these stats. Freshman Chubba Purdy getting snaps against one of the better defenses like Pittsburgh likely impacted these stats.

However, FSU not facing Clemson probably impacted these stats in favor of FSU too. Another factor that impacted these stats is the inability of FSU wide receivers to get open last year.

Outside of Tamorrion Terry in the first few games, the FSU wide receiver unit was abysmal, which likley attributed to some coverage sacks.
