Running Backs Slightly Improved Over 2020

The running back group will be slightly improved over last season. It’s largely the same running back group, with Auburn transfer DJ Williams replacing La’Damian Webb.

The biggest difference will be the experience from last season and players developing in the offseason.

Lawrance Toafili has added 5-10 pounds to his frame, and Jashaun Corbin is another year removed from his injury that sidelined him at Texas A&M.

Better quarterback play will help this unit since most teams will not be able to stack the box against the ‘Noles running game.

All FSU running backs averaged 4.5 yards per carry or higher last year, and the offensive line should be at good or better than last year.

My biggest question revolves around how they plan to use all three running backs. Corbin seemed to be the workhorse last season, with Lawrance coming in for explosive/chunk plays. Williams looks like he could be the third-down back when they need some tough yards for a first down.

Although, Corbin was adept in that department last year from the wildcat. This unit isn’t going to blow your socks off, but I think they’ll be a bit better than last season.
