Jashaun Corbin

The running back room as a whole deserves a shout-out. They were the group that had to make lemonade out of lemons and perform behind the luck luster offensive line and in a one-dimensional team.

Corbin was the biggest contributor in that room.  He greatly improved as he got healthier after his injury. His runs got longer, juke moves got crisper, and he proved valuable in the wild cat.

However, the other big contributor in that room has gone. The LaDamian Webb-Corbin combination proved lethal frequently. As we approach the season, seeing who fills Webb’s shoes as the “two” in the rotation will be important.

Will it be Jordan Travis as a gadget? Toafilli? The transfer Williams? That and the removal of the quarterback running threat will be the biggest litmus test for this room.

I believe that Lawrance Toafili will be one of the players to see his name called more often. He had a great year last year, leading the nation in yards per attempt. My question is whether he can sustain the increased workload with his slight frame.

I think he can be a feature back in the future, but to be that and be the best, he will need to alter his body composition to deliver as much punishment as he receives. However, it looks as though he’s put on 5-10 pounds since last year.
