FSU football: 3 major differences between 2022 and 2019 recruiting
By Kelvin Hunt
The role Travis Hunter Jr. has played in recruiting can’t be understated. The staff didn’t have to do anything to get Hunter Jr. to commit because he was an FSU fan.
However, credit has to be given to the staff for getting him to buy into the role he has taken as the Alpha Dog.
All of the programs recruiting at an elite level have made a run at Hunter. Clemson, Alabama, Ohio State, all of them, but he has recruiting harder for FSU than some of Willie Taggart’s staff.
He’s a generational player, and those types of players attract other top players. The addition of AJ Duffy has been huge for the class, and he openly recruits for FSU football.
As players commit, they talk about putting on their recruiting hats to get other top players to join them.
It goes back to spending lots of time on campus for unofficial and official visits. These players are developing rapport with the coaching staff and one another. They believe in one another.
FSU football has to show improvement on the field, but this bond will be tough for other teams to overcome.
