Building Trust

All the talent is leaving they said when several older players hit the transfer portal and left the program. How are they going to replace that talent?

All I could do was chuckle when reading posts like that on Twitter. I’ve said it time and time again, if a player isn’t buying into your vision, they have to go. The dissension caused among the players diminishes the value of the talented player.

What we’ve seen since the season ended is only a handful of the players on the roster decided to leave the program. Players have gone through spring camp and had exit interviews with Mike Norvell.

However, almost all of those remaining are still with the program and putting in the work to get better.

The players had a full spring camp and are in their summer workouts, hitting the weight room for strength and conditioning.

The current players are building trust with the coaching staff just like these 2022 commits. Think about it. A player has to trust a coaching staff to commit to a team that’s under .500 over the past four seasons.

The current players got a taste of what it’s like to play for Mike Norvell. However, they’ll get the opportunity to do so after getting a full offseason in 2021.

I think the experience gathered since last year will help produce a team that’s more prepared mentally, physically, and emotionally.

It should produce a team that’s more coordinated in every aspect, and that should lead to a better product on the field.
