Is recruiting momentum foreshadowing of better on field product in 2021?

FSU recruiting has momentum, unlike anything we’ve seen in recent years. The Noles have gotten five commitments this week, and could get more soon.

I think the last time we saw this type of momentum was in April 2018, when Willie Taggart had the No. 1 class in the nation after Sam Howell and Dontae Lucas committed.

The Noles have the No. 5 overall ranking, but of course, it means nothing if the players don’t sign with the team.

I understand that, and it’s noted, but I want to talk about the process of how this coaching staff got to this point.

Most importantly, how that process could mean we’ll see a better product on the field in 2021.

It all comes down to the head coach getting his coaching staff on the same page, much like getting a team to play well in all three phases of the game.

It comes down to evaluating roster needs, evaluating talent, and having a plan to execute to get the optimal results.

Mike Norvell and his coaching staff have done that to this point. They’ve addressed the quarterback position with McKenzie Milton and AJ Duffy. Wide receiver Andrew Parchment helps address a need at wide receiver and Jermaine Johnson at defensive end.

The coaching staff added more players at different positions to add experience and depth, which should help the team in 2021.

However, it’s the 2022 class that I want to draw a correlation to recruiting success foreshadowing a better on-the-field product.
