FSU football: 5 reasons to be excited about 2021 season
By Kelvin Hunt
Improved Defense
This could be one of the things I’m looking forward to the most. I mean, this defense can’t conceivably be any worse than last year.
If so, I think that’s the last you’ll see of FSU defensive coordinator Adam Fuller. However, I have faith in Adam Fuller and want to attribute much of the issues to not having a real offseason to train and practice.
The guy has shown he can considerably improve a defense at TWO different schools in year one. Mike Norvell has a knack for hiring good coaches, so I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt.
We saw the players in a position to make plays last year, but the players didn’t make them for whatever reasons. There were tons of missed tackles, but that seemed to be the case across all of college football last season with limited practice reps.
Experience returns at all three levels of the defense. If they can generate a pass rush, that will drastically change things and how well they perform.
I don’t expect this defense to be a reincarnation of the improvement we saw with Mark Stoops in 2010, but I’m excited to see how hard they play in 2021.
