FSU football: Miami fans react to Marvin Jones Jr. throwing down the ‘U’
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football fans are enjoying a recruiting resurgence in the Mike Norvell era. Mike Norvell and the coaching staff hit the ground running on June 1, when the NCAA ended the recruiting dead period after nearly 16 months.
Mike Norvell estimates they have had over 3,000 high school players on campus in the past few weeks, from various camp settings to unofficial and official visits.
One of the most important unofficial visits for the staff happened a few days ago when legacy and top 100 recruit Marvin Jones Jr. visited campus for the first time with the new staff.
Jones Jr. is arguably the most important uncommitted recruit left on FSU’s board, and the reviews from his visit have been glowing, to say the least.
He was accompanied by his mother(Miami alum), and she was impressed by the experience in Tallahassee:
The picture of Marvin Jones Jr. throwing down the “U” caught the attention of Miami fans on the Canes Insight forum. If you ever want a good laugh, that’s the place to go. After all, their 2022 QB is the second coming of Cam Newton, according some one poster there.
Nevertheless, Miami fans provide a prime example of why others clown that fan base for a variety of reasons. Check out some of the responses to the picture:
"Ziggy-F him! Don’t even bother recruiting him anymore. Have fun losing to us for 4 years."
"BS85-I think he’s actually just about to bend over and practice assuming the position so he’s ready for the UM game."
"Gooner#44-I mean what else would a Nole’s son who lost to us year after year in the biggest CFB’s of his career do?Hope he likes it in Trailerhassee"
"Mklein14-Lol incoming 0-4 for his next 4 years there"
"htownkidd-Poor kidLet’s not talk about him any more on this board, cool?"
"Page305-I’m actually glad he did this. Save our coaches time and resources since we don’t have to recruit him any longer"
Thoughts
Man, talk about grown men letting a high school player get them up in arms? Miami’s recruiting class is sitting at No. 48 nationally after one of their best years in a decade. Let’s not act like they are burning the recruiting trail up, folks!
Marvin Jones Jr. is the No. 49 ranked recruit and No. 9 defensive end in the nation with over 30 offers. Let’s try to be respectful of the young man and the rivalry between the two schools. If there was a Miami legacy that was a great player with the potential to help our program? I’d want him and would take him if he committed to FSU football.
Marvin Jones Jr. looks like he was born to were the garnet and gold though!
