Talent

Despite the team’s overall performance last season, there’s still some talent on the roster compared to the majority of the teams on the schedule. Here’s a look at the composite recruiting rankings of defensive players:

  • Robert Cooper (DT)-4-star
  • Amari Gainer (DE/LB)-4-star
  • Dennis Briggs Jr. (DT)-4-star
  • Jaleel McRae (LB)-4-star
  • Brenden Gant (LB/S)-4-star
  • Kalen DeLoach (LB)-4-star
  • Akeem Dent (DB)-4-star
  • Jarrian Jones (DB)-4-star
  • Jermaine Johnson (DE)-4-star
  • Travis Jay (DB)-4-star
  • Stephen Dix Jr. (LB)-4-star

All of these players have college experience, and there are a few blue-chip freshmen who’ll see snaps in 2021.

That’s 11 blue-chip players, and some teams on the schedule don’t have 11 blue-chip players on their entire roster. That’s a lot of talent that needs to be coached up and put in positions to win.
