Jovantae Barnes

Jovantae Barnes is a player a lot of FSU football fans probably are not familiar with, but he’s arguably the best running back target on the FSU recruiting board.

Barnes is originally from Florida but is playing high school ball in Nevada. Barnes is considered the No. 109 player overall and No. 9 running back in the 2022 recruiting cycle.

FSU football was the first place he visited once the NCAA Dead Period ended earlier this month. He attended Midnight Madness event and came away impressed with his time on campus.

Barnes has over 30 offers, and USC has the lone 247 Crystal Ball Prediction with a confidence level of two. He plans to visit multiple schools over the next few weeks.

The top schools competing with FSU seem to be USC, UCLA, Alabama, LSU, and Oklahoma. The production of running backs in Mike Norvell’s offense has to be attractive, and Barnes visiting FSU first is a good sign.

Barnes having family in Florida could also be a factor.
